We raise English & American heritage breed chickens

 for our eggs, these include the Dominique, Buff Orpington, Rhode Island Red, Plymouth Rock, Silver Wyandotte, Speckled Sussex, & Redcap. Our girls are a little spoiled, they range freely over the property during the day

where they can eat various grasses, legumes & fruits,

catch bugs, sunbathe, take dust baths & scratch in the

soil. At night, they are secure from predators in their

coops. They reward us with great tasting eggs that

have a deep yellow/ almost orange yolk.

We raise Freedom Ranger for their amazing meat -

they taste like chickens used to. Their genetic stock is derived from the American & European old heritage breeds of chicken & was developed in the early 1960’s

to meet the highest standards of the French 'Label

Rouge' Free Range program.

They are a slower growing breed, taking 10-11 weeks

to reach an average table weight of between 4 &

5.5 lbs vs. 7 weeks for the white Cornish Cross chicken which accounts for 98% of raised chicken for meat

in the USA. Our broilers are raised in bottomless

 'tractors' which are moved twice daily to fresh pasture, this allows them to actively forage for around 20% of

their diet, actually see daylight & feel the sun on

their backs. It also keeps them safe from predators

like hawks.

Our chickens are fed non medicated, non GMO

feed which we buy from a local grain mill here in

Geauga County.
